Our Chiropractors specialize in evaluation and treatment of mechanical low back pain, neck pain, headaches and other musculoskeletal (muscle, bone, joint) conditions. Using spinal manipulation as one of many tools, the Functional Spine Center, is focused on the integration of rehabilitative care in the treatment process.
Veronica Elko, D.C.
Chiropractic Doctor/Director of Chiropractic Care
Veronica L. Elko, D.C. provides leadership, direction, and control for all aspects of the chiropractic care paradigm. While attending Palmer, Dr. Elko was selected to deliver chiropractic care to under served populations in India for three weeks in the summer of 2006. Her experience allowed her the opportunity to provide care to a wide age range and a variety of conditions, further sharpening her tactile and diagnostic skills. Dr. Elko graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Northern Colorado in 2002 with a Bachelors of Art in Human Biology and was the Valedictorian of her class at Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida in 2006.
Stephen Flynn, D.C.
Chiropractic Doctor/Director of Rehabilitation
Stephen J. Flynn, D.C. is responsible for guiding and directing rehabilitation activities in conjunction with chiropractic care. He is a Certified Medical Examiner (CME# 5119657213) by the Federal Motor Safety Carriers Association. Dr. Flynn’s background is based in the strength and conditioning industry having worked at the International Performance Institute in Bradenton, Florida (now IMG Performance Academy), as a Collegiate Sports Performance Coach, and as an intern in the University of New Hampshire’s Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation program.
In 2000, Dr. Flynn graduated with honors and acquired a B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of New Hampshire. He also served as an a assistant coach for the Bates College baseball team for three years. Dr. Flynn then graduated with honors from Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida in 2006. He is the past board chair of Common Ties Mental Health Coalition. The organization “promotes the health and wellness of the citizens of Androscoggin County by providing programs supporting recovery from the combined challenges of physical, mental and substance abuse illnesses.”

Dr.’s Elko and Flynn are licensed to practice by the state of Maine Office of Licensing and Registration. The FSC chiropractors were required to pass five (5) board exams administered by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, including an exam on physiotherapy. Both Doctors Elko and Flynn are trained in Graston Instrument Soft Tissue Manipulation, Flexion-Distraction, and Activator Methods.
